Version 5

Lightning Pick focused the spotlight on Version 5 of its pick-to-light system and software. The new version brings more real-time information to the pick-to-light displays to allow greater worker interaction with the system. This is part of Lightning Pick's philosophy of treating the workers as picking professionals, giving them more responsibility for inventory management beyond simply putting products into a carton. For instance, if there is a shortage of an item to be picked, the worker can punch in the amount short on the display face. This can trigger either a replenishment order or an event message to be sent to a manager's PDA, computer, cell phone, etc. The system is also capable of capturing lot and serial numbers as items are being picked. The pick-to-light displays can also signal a worker if product should be handled or packaged in a certain way.
